About

Hi. I’m Samarjeet Nayak. You can call me Samar. I’m 33, based in Pune, India, where I run a 4,000+ strong books & art community centered on meaning, mindfulness and real-life connections.

I’ve been on both sides of digital technology, from propogating its methods to now critically condemning it. After completing my Bachelor’s in Engineering in 2012, I freelanced as a Search Engine Optimization specialist for seven years and post that, ran my own digital marketing agency for another three.

The more I worked in this field, the more it became clearer that modern digital technology is built around engagement & profits, only.

Platforms optimize for clicks, time-on-site and repeat visits because attention drives advertising revenue. During the same period, smartphones and apps spread rapidly through everyday life. As someone, Screen use increased sharply and spending ten or more hours a day on digital devices became common.

Being one always averse to popular consumptions and addictions and priding myself over my discipline, it didn’t sit well with me that digital technology felt sticky. The pull was persistent and difficult to disengage from. Hence, began my foray into the realm of digital addictions.

The convergence of understanding how these platforms worked, feeling their effects personally and across society pushed me deeper into studying digital addiction.

NoScroll hence, is my obsessive inquiry into digital technology & it’s effects on the human mind. It evolved through distilling things down to an atomic level, years of inspecting & experimenting with components and putting them all back together to build a system people can use to reclaim their attention & lives, adapting it to their own unique habits & constraints.

It is my attempt to restore hope and calm in a culture steadily losing its sanity under the weight of modern life and technology.
